The Tourism and Events Subject Group are immensely proud to announce that at the recently held University of Lincoln Students Union Awards 2014, its BA (Hons) International Tourism Management (ITM) programme was voted Degree of the Year! Voted for by the student body of the University and in particular the students reading the degree itself, it is in recognition of the subject group’s continued advancement in areas such as students engagement, quality of teaching and research, extra curricular activities, guest lecturers and speakers, study visits and pastoral care to name a few areas of noted success.

The degree programme was in esteemed company at the awards having been shorted-listed with BSc (Hons) Zoology and BA (Hons) Media Studies, both of whom had been previous winners of the award but the winning edge was identified as being the high quality of teaching and learning that the students enjoy – something that the subject team is extremely committed towards and proud of. The Programme Leader for ITM, Farhan Ahmed, commented upon the success of the degree by stating that ‘we design our curriculum in a way to maximise student experience and collaboration and this has been recognised’. Moreover, the Head of Division, Professor Heather Hughes, said ‘Lincoln’s Business School has been praised by externals for its Tourism provision for many years now’. With such success behind it, the subject group and staff will continue to endeavour to improve and provide students the best possible education and experience at Lincoln.
