I Nengah Subadra (left) and N Wibisono (right) celebrate their success in becoming PhDs.

We are delighted that two of our Indonesian students have recently been successful in the defence of their PhD theses at their vivas (oral examinations).  Nono Wibisono’s thesis focused on the destination image of West Java and I Nengah Subadra analysed the complexity of opening Hindu temples as tourist attactions on Bali. Prof. Richard Sharpley (University of Central Lancashire) acted as Nono’s external examiner and Prof. Tom Selwyn (School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London) was the external for I Nengah Subadra. Both theses have the potential to contribute substantially to tourism development in Indonesia:

congratulations to both!
