A group of MSc Events Management students undertook a study visit to RAF Hendon on Friday 17 April. We have a special link to this site, for two reasons: first is that the Events Manager, Rachel Bundy, is a graduate of both our undergraduate and MSc programmes; second is that there is a link between the aviation heritage covered at Hendon and the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln, in which our subject group is heavily involved.

Rachel met us on arrival and gave a really fantastic briefing on the work that RAF Hendon is doing to diversify income. She focused on the role of the events team and discussed the unique aspects of the site as an event venue. In the discussion that followed, Rachel explained how her studies at Lincoln had underpinned her success, and gave students useful advice for their own career planning.

After a very good lunch, Rachel took us on a guided tour of the site, which is huge. A highlight was the refurbished World War 1 exhibition, housed in the original hangar on site, dating back to the early 20th century.
