On arrival we had a guest lecture from a member of visit York who spoke about managing tourism in York.  This was a useful insight into working in the tourism industry. We had the opportunity to ask questions before heading out to explore the shambles of York. For lunch we visited the anticipated York Roast Co for a Yorkshire pudding wrap and we made sure we went early to avoid the queues. (They was massive at 2:30pm!!).

The main attraction we chose to visit was the York castle museum because they were hosting a temporary exhibition called ‘Shaping the Body’ which we discovered during our preliminary research. The exhibition was about the changing perspectives of the human body and dieting throughout the last 400 years. The museum exceeded our expectations as it has a vast variety of history and culture. Throughout our visit at the museum we got involved in various activities such as historical dress up, climbing through battlefield trenches, and a Victorian prison walkthrough experience.

We liked the immersive experience of the museum as there were many sensory triggers such as different scents, visual aids including videos, interactive quizzes and QR codes.  We especially enjoyed the exhibition which involved dressing up in historical clothing and modelling on a cat walk. Our favourite part of the museum was a replicated Victorian street where we had the chance to buy Victorian sweets from a traditional sweet shop. All in all it was a great day where we had the chance to get to know each other more and experience a new city. We hope to re visit York soon and visit more attractions.
