Whilst touring the city of York it became quickly apparent that there was a lack of sign posting which made finding the visitor attractions .From our personal experience in trying to find the York Dungeons, road names were not clear enough which made navigating with a map difficult. Hence why we chose to instead visit the Jorvik centre which was sign posted much better.

The Jorvik centre was a positive visitor experience from our point of view as it offered an insight into the historical background of York and an interactive experience which was enjoyable for all of us. When we spoke to the member of staff by the centres entrance she explained how the ride, which is the second part of the experience was a huge contributor to the centres popularity, which was one of our highlights as well. Another highlight of ours was the costumes that the staff wore as they helped add to both the aesthetic and authenticity of the attraction.

Whilst in York we visited the Jorvik centre, this is a museum where you can experience what life would have been like when the Vikings inhabited York. Within the museum there were sections about archaeological designs and ancient artefacts. There was also a ride with audio description that took you through what life and the villages were like, using sensory effects such as smells and sounds to make the experience even better. I feel that the experience would accessible to everyone but was quite expensive for what it was and was hard to find as it wasn’t very well signposted in the city.

Overall, my experience in York was great and I think the Jorvik entry ticket which is £8.25 for senior is worthy because the approximate time that people spent in there is 45 min. Other than this attraction, I think York has a really nice place for shopping and I like how they have a mixture of the international brands and the local shops. What I think York can improve about this place is they need to put more event signs to show the visitors what’s event is on that day without having to look through the website.
